Your food stays on your phone
Zero Bite has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. We don't collect, sell or share your personal data.
What's stored on your iPhone
The food you add (names, brands, barcodes, quantities, dates, storage place and notes), your settings (reminder times, allergies, recall checks) and a copy of recent food recall alerts. This is stored only on your device and included in your normal iPhone or iCloud backups. We can't see it.
Camera and photos
When you scan a label or choose a photo, the text and barcode are read on your iPhone using Apple's Vision framework. Images are not saved and never leave your device.
What leaves your iPhone
When you scan a barcode, only the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts, a free public food database, to find the product's name and brand. No other information about you or your fridge is sent. Open Food Facts handles requests under its own privacy policy.
If recall checks are on, Zero Bite downloads the UK Food Standards Agency's public list of recent alerts. Nothing about you, your food or your allergies is sent; matching happens on your iPhone. You can turn this off in Settings → Food safety.
Like any internet request, these services can see your device's IP address. We don't run any servers and receive none of this information.
Notifications
Expiry reminders and recall warnings are local notifications created on your iPhone. They aren't sent through our servers or any push service.
Children
Zero Bite doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Go to Settings → Data → Delete everything in the app, or delete the app to remove all of its data from your iPhone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If Zero Bite ever starts collecting data, we'll ask for your permission first.
